Lorna Fuller for Delegate

Why should OAND members vote for you. Not only include your past but also include what you can bring to the position.

As an active member within the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and Ohio Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, I have had the opportunity to volunteer in several capacities to enhance the profession of dietetics. My experience in the activities and operations of the association has garnered me time to learn the inner workings of the Academy and learn about some of the concerns we have as an association that affect us at the district state and national level. I applied to this three-year term position because I am ready for change.

I enjoy challenges, and the prospect of meeting and working with professionals at all levels of the association gets my creative juices flowing. I will use my leadership abilities to work with delegates, other leaders and you to resolve professional issues

Having exposure to the House of Delegates during my tenure as an Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Diversity Leader and National Nominating Committee has piqued my interest in the issues that affect our organization. My concerns are the lack of diversity within our profession despite initiatives to increase those numbers, the aging workforce, and the need to attract, recruit and retain those entering the dietetic business and technology and its impact on the profession. These are some of my concerns; what are your interests? Let’s talk about them and come up with strategies to address your concerns.

Something personal about yourself that you would like to share.

I am a native Clevelander and active in various church activities ranging from Sunday School Teacher to past District Choir President. An avid reader, and traveler, I enjoy giving back to the community, which served me so well. My preferred pastime is watching a Hallmark movie with a cup of hot cocoa. However, one of my most significant accomplishments is learning to swim three summers ago after almost drowning while in my late teens. In closing to understand me, I can sum up with my favorite positive affirmation from Les Brown is ‘if you want to soar like eagles, leave those pigeons alone. “
